What is Fusion – formerly Fusion 360?

AUTOSESK Fusion combines design, development, electronics and production on a central software platform.

In other words, a cloud-based software platform for modeling, CAD, CAM, CAE and PCBs in 3D for product design and manufacturing.

• Design and develop products according to your specifications for aesthetics, form, fit and function.
• Reduce the impact of changes in design, development and PCBs and rely on manufacturability with simulation tools and generative design.
• Edit existing objects or model installations directly with the only fully integrated CAD/CAM software.

WESTCAM’s Fusion basic training course comprises the first of a total of three modules:

• Module 1 teaches you the basic structure of Fusion (user interface) and the basics of design (sketch, component) through to drawing derivation

Building on Module 1, we subsequently offer two further modules:

• In module 2, you learn how the components interact in an assembly with the help of the joint connections
• Module 3 introduces the functions of generative design. By defining performance parameters, manufacturing processes, materials and cost conditions, several high-performance designs are quickly generated.

• User interface
• Fusion Team / Data management
• 2D design (sketch creation)
• Sketch definition (dimensioning, dependencies)
• Creating basic bodies (rotation, extrusion)
• Editing basic bodies or 2D sketches
• Placed elements (holes, threads, rounding, chamfer, etc.)
• Sheet metal functionalities
• Drawing derivations (views, dimensioning, labeling)

Rendering of a fictional consumer product (film camera) designed, modeled and rendered with Fusion Product Design Extension. The software solution provides access to advanced 3D design and modeling tools that simplify the product development process and enable an automated approach to creating complex product designs.
