One of the greatest strengths of Hummingbird tool logistics is the direct connection to the existing tool database – whether in hyperMILL or in another CAM system. Just like Bitschnau, many companies already carefully maintain their tool data for programming purposes. Hummingbird can use this basis and seamlessly transfer it to tool logistics.
The benefits are clear: no duplicate data maintenance, quick access to agile and transparent tool logistics with fewer sources of error and a consistent flow of information. Programmers, tool manufacturers and machine operators work with the same, up-to-date tool data – saving time, effort, nerves and, last but not least, money!
Maintaining an overview
With Hummingbird, tools can be clearly identified – for example using a DataMatrix code. This means that measurement data can be automatically transferred from the presetting device, the storage location is known at all times and long (tool) searches are a thing of the past.
The result: full transparency of the entire tool inventory.
At the same time, the service life of each tool is seamlessly recorded – an important basis for planning, maintenance and cost control for the tools.

After Bitschnau Metallverarbeitung recently invested in modern, automated machinery, the company is now consistently focusing on expanding the information flow and process with Hummingbird tool logistics – supplemented by CAM/CNC integration.
This means that the entire production process, from hyperMILL to the finished component, remains networked and the new systems can fully exploit their potential.
Up-to-date data everywhere
Thanks to the CAM/CNC connection, production-relevant data can be transferred directly from hyperMILL to digital workstations or directly to the machine control system. This means that all important information is available on site – from digital routing slips and the required tools to clamping sketches and process data.
Integration into team and resource management gives group or production managers an up-to-date overview of capacity utilization at all times. The progress of individual orders is visualized in real time, which significantly improves the transparency and controllability of production.
