What do you think of when you think of hyperMILL<\/em>? If subtractive manufacturing, 2.5D, 3D and 5-axis milling come to mind, you are absolutely right, but you are not yet up to date. That’s because the hyperMILL<\/em><\/strong> CAD\/CAM suite is now being expanded to meet the requirements of industrial 3D printing <\/strong>: the new hyperMILL<\/em>ADDITIVE Manufacturing<\/strong> software allows both subtractive and additive manufacturing<\/strong>to be optimally controlled. hyperMILL<\/em>goes additive<\/h3>\n\n

hyperMILL<\/em>Additive Manufacturing is a highly flexible CAM software for additive 2D, 3D and 5-axis machining<\/strong>. It can be used to conveniently and reliably program machines that use the powder nozzle process <\/strong>and to precisely rework 3D printed parts manufactured using powder bed technology <\/strong>. <\/p>\n\n

In the powder nozzle process or direct energy deposition process (DED) <\/strong>, the material is applied selectively to the component or a platform using a laser, for example. For the best possible results, the material application is actively controlled by hyperMILL<\/em>Additive Manufacturing. hyperMILL<\/em>is one of the world’s first software programs to support this additive manufacturing process. <\/p>\n\n

With powder bed technology or powder bed fusion (PBF)<\/strong>, the component is manufactured by printing layer by layer in a powder bed, using the Materialise<\/a> software solution offered by WESTCAM, for example, to control the machine. However, in order to produce 100% precise functional components, the 3D-printed parts<\/strong> must be post-processed<\/strong>.
