Zumtobel recently started using the CAD\/CAM solution PEPS from WESTCAM. Implementation of the process within just 3 days was impressive! <\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n\n

New department – proven system<\/h3>\n\n

WESTCAM<\/strong> came into play in the strategic decision<\/strong> to establish an in-house toolmaking department<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n

“When setting up our new department, our first step was to obtain independent customer opinions from the market. It quickly became clear that PEPS was exactly the right solution for our requirements,”<\/em> says J\u00fcrgen Kn\u00f6dler<\/strong>, Head of Toolmaking at Zumtobel<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n

The high level of user-friendliness of PEPS<\/a> <\/strong>enabled rapid implementation.<\/p>\n\n

J\u00fcrgen Kn\u00f6dler says: “We were able to go live after just three days. Two days of training at the WESTCAM branch in G\u00f6tzis and one day of on-site implementation were sufficient. It’s great that with PEPS expert Mateusz, we now also have a fixed contact person who can help us competently with any questions we may have.”<\/em><\/p>\n\n

Samuel Bader<\/strong>, Process Consultant and Key Account Manager at WESTCAM<\/strong>, explains:<\/p>\n\n

“Large companies tend to want to cover everything with a single solution package. The selection of the CAD system to be used in production or CAM programming is often determined by the design department. However, the design requirements for production differ from those in the design department. Typical CAD systems are not designed for this and often do not offer the necessary functionalities.”<\/em><\/p>\n\n

In summary, Mr. Bader says: “We therefore often do not recommend a CAM variant integrated into the existing CAD environment, but usually a standalone solution that is tailored to the special needs of programmers and can transfer the data from the design without loss.”<\/em><\/p>\n\n

What actually characterizes PEPS?<\/h3>\n\n

PEPS enables simple, precise and comprehensive programming for the wire-cutting systems (more<\/a>). <\/strong>This is where the software really comes into its own. Extensive CAD interfaces<\/strong> are available for data transfer. The CAD data from the in-house CAD systems is imported via a direct interface. WIRE-EXPERT<\/strong> automatically recognizes geometry information based on 3D CAD data. This means that the data can be read in and programmed directly. Technologies are created directly via databases at the CAM workstation and transferred to the machine. This ensures a smooth eroding process<\/strong>. <\/p>\n\n
